  • The candidates should have of relevant experience, gaining exposure to journalism, computers, and the technology of radio or television broadcasting and digital services
  • The candidates should have strong knowledge and understanding of Atlantic Canada and the issues that matter to the region’s francophone and Acadian communities
  • The candidates should have experience in booking interview guests, developing lines of questioning, writing focused introductions, and preparing and writing tape segments
  • The candidates should demonstrate capability for original and creative thought in the production of news for radio, TV, and digital platforms, with proven writing skills
  • The candidates should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be a team player
  • The candidates should be comfortable with the demands and needs of television, radio, and digital news production
  • The candidates should have strong organizational skills and the ability to handle a variety of functions quickly and efficiently
  • The candidates should understand the structure and workflow of Radio-Canada News in regional centres and across the network and be able to build and maintain strong relationships with counterparts in other stations

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to contribute ideas for program content and help determine program objectives and music in appropriate information systems
  • The candidates should be able to assist in developing program content, including writing, researching, and editing, and prepare scripts while ensuring adherence to the style and format of the program
  • The candidates should be able to obtain studios, crews, lines, uplinks, remotes, and other technical and production resources required for the program on behalf of all producers and freelancers
  • The candidates should be able to help gather material in the field for broadcast or publication on the program’s platforms
  • The candidates should be able to organize the appearances of interviewees, creative contributors, and other guests on the program, develop background information, intros, and lines of questioning, conduct or arrange necessary research, and ensure the briefing of hosts, while maintaining contact files
  • The candidates should be able to participate in the evaluation of all aspects of the production and select music, sound effects, and actuality and produce program elements
  • The candidates should be able to direct live or pre-packaged programs, whether in studio or at a remote location and assign, direct, and co-ordinate the work of others working on a project for which the Producer is responsible
  • The candidates should be able to edit and mix, or direct the editing and mixing of, audio and visual elements and write continuity texts, edit copy, and prepare announcements for broadcast or online posting
  • The candidates should be able to assemble, code, digitize, and index sound and digital images for a website and social platforms using appropriate technologies and assist in maintaining a level of communication or rapport with audience members that is both feasible and appropriate to the style and nature of the program
  • The candidates should be able to perform other production or administrative tasks associated with the smooth functioning of the newsroom, program unit, or station
