Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Credentials: Serving It Right Certificate

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to organize and set up the bar efficiently, handle short-order cooking and food preparation tasks, and clean the bar area and wash glassware regularly to maintain cleanliness
  • The candidates should be able to serve food or snacks to customers as required, advise customers on wine selection based on preferences and menu items, and inform customers regarding the contents of cocktails or other drinks accurately
  • The candidates should be able to collect cash, credit/debit cards, or other payment for beverages in a timely manner, operate a cash register proficiently, and record and balance beverage sales accurately
  • The candidates should be able to store beverage and food products properly to maintain quality and freshness, order bar stock, and maintain inventory and control of bar stock effectively
  • The candidates should be able to address customers’ complaints or concerns professionally and promptly, enforce provincial/territorial liquor legislation and regulations to ensure compliance, and prepare mixed drinks, wine, draft or bottled beer, and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and standards
  • The candidates should be able to take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons accurately and resolve conflict situations calmly and efficiently
