Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of a Master of Nursing
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of nursing experience in a variety of acute care areas, such as critical care, emergency departments, and medicine, as well as leadership experience as a Charge Nurse
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be highly motivated, self-directed, and flexible, with an established evaluation process for teaching effectiveness and be extremely organized and have strong interpersonal skills
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have completed an accredited nursing education program and be active or eligible for registration and a practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
- The candidates should hold a current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
- The candidates should possess one of the following specialized nursing skills: peritoneal dialysis, ventilator care, or intermediate care (including telemetry)
- The candidates should have knowledge of CoACT, the AHS collaborative care framework, and its care elements
- The candidates should have a proven track record of teaching adults using various mediums, including one-on-one, classroom, skills lab, simulations, computer modules, both virtually and in person
- The candidates should demonstrate experience applying adult learning principles to teaching, curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation of health content for employees and patients
- The candidates should exhibit a commitment to continuing education and knowledge of best practices
- The candidates should have strong computer skills, including proficiency in Connect Care, PowerPoint, and virtual teaching tools such as Snag It, Teams, and Microsoft Stream
- The candidates should recognize that experience with RLS and the Clean Hands Portal is ideal and understand that process improvement courses and certification
- The candidates should have completed training or courses in leadership, conflict resolution, change management, and communication
- The candidates should have experience working as a nurse in multiple sub-specialties of medicine, such as Family Medicine, GIM, Geriatrics, GI, Pulmonary, and Nephrology
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of education for nursing staff, including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development
- The candidates should be able to collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational, and evidence-informed practice
- The candidates should be able to provide safe, quality, patient- and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS
