La Cabottine – Indigenous flavors based in Quebec, Canada is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Berry Picker. Located in Mitis in Bas St-Laurent, La Cabottine- Saveurs INDIgenes is a small business specializing in the collection of edible wild products. We practice ethical harvesting, respectful of ecosystems and in addition to fresh products, we offer a range of processed products: herbal teas, jellies and jams from wild fruits, products derived from forest mushrooms and boreal spices. The candidates who will get selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the French Language.
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualification such as DES (high school diploma)
Experience: Candidates need an experience of 1-6 months

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidate should have a good physical shape and a good ability to orient yourself in nature is an advantage

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should be able to work full-time day, 30 to 40 hours per week; from 6 to 8 months; part-time possible in low season
  • The candidate should be able to develop his/her interests, passions and qualities and flourish in several areas and also should be efficient in picking and have a passion for photography
  • The candidate should be passionate about cooking and like being outdoors and also take into account the needs of the company AND his/her interests and skills to profile the position.
  • The candidate should be comfortable with teamwork. Even if we work in the middle of nature, interpersonal skills and collaboration are essential
  • The candidate should have training or experience in one or more of the following areas are important assets: picking, ecology, environment, basic administrative tasks, food processing, communication and social networks, maintenance tasks
  • The candidate should have access to a car and also skills such as adaptability, commitment, efficiency, versatility, discretion and resourcefulness

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to harvest wild products – plants, berries, mushrooms – ethically in kind and also take care of processing of wild products – cleaning, drying, canning
  • The candidate should be able to maintain production records and also prepare of orders and delivery
  • The candidate should be able to perform all other related tasks – general maintenance, communications, bagging etc.
  • The candidate should have a smile on their face and have good humor at work and also should be able to love beautiful human relationships
  • The candidate should have the ability to adapt and be able to turn around on a 10 cents! As we work with weather, wild products and humans, all of these factors are subject to change without notice
