Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social work or related field from a recognized university
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of five years’ in-depth clinical experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have knowledge of different clinical approaches and experience working with various issues and populations
  • The candidates should demonstrate understanding of issues related to all forms of violence
  • The candidates should be in good standing with their professional association
  • The candidates should possess the ability to supervise and guide staff to promote work efficiency
  • The candidates should have knowledge of developing work procedures and practices
  • The candidates should have strong skills and an in-depth understanding of therapeutic intervention techniques based on best practices
  • The candidates should have excellent command of spoken and written French and English
  • The candidates should have knowledge and ability to use basic computer software and other specialized software such as CHMYN, EMHWARE, PS SUITE, etc.
  • The candidates should have extensive knowledge of social services in the Niagara and Hamilton regions
  • The candidates should be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and exercise good judgment
  • The candidates should have the ability and sensitivity to work with a multicultural clientele
  • The candidates should have effective communication skills both by telephone and in person, avoiding value judgments
  • The candidates must be a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers (OCSWSSW) or the College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPT)
  • The candidates must meet OPAO’s “independent practice” requirement, including 1,000 hours of direct client contact and 150 hours of clinical supervision
  • The candidates must complete 30 hours of supervised clinical training, which may include various forms of directed learning
  • The candidates must provide a signed statement indicating understanding of OPAO definitions and scope of practice
  • The candidates should have good knowledge of the requirements and obligations of both the OPAO and OTSTTSO
  • The candidates should be willing to work flexible hours and respond to client needs
  • The candidates should possess a valid Ontario driver’s license and have access to a motor vehicle

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide clinical supervision to CSCHN practitioners involved in psychotherapy, counseling, and/or outreach work, including reviewing and recommending clinical notes and intervention plans
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate individual and group supervision meetings for practitioners
  • The candidates should be able to manage case discussions with CSCHN practitioners involved in psychotherapy, counseling, and/or outreach work
  • The candidates should be able to promote the integration of knowledge and clinical practice among practitioners
  • The candidates should be able to support personal and professional development of practitioners
  • The candidates should be able to identify and participate in the development of ethical standards of practice in accordance with professional conduct rules
  • The candidates should be able to advise CSCHN practitioners on relevant training, approaches, and tools in psychotherapy, counseling, and/or outreach work
  • The candidates should be able to participate in the development of client follow-up procedures while ensuring compliance with professional ethics rules
  • The candidates should be able to review the content of educational and therapeutic workshops and groups
  • The candidates should be able to complete evaluations at the end of probation periods and during annual assessments
  • The candidates should be able to review files as requested by management during annual evaluations
  • The candidates should be able to complete necessary documents for employee needs according to OPAO guidelines
  • The candidates should be able to review program evaluation tools and provide input as necessary
  • The candidates should be able to participate in team hiring committees as required
  • The candidates should be able to supervise interns as part of their role
  • The candidates should be able to participate in therapist interview panels
  • The candidates should be able to maintain a collaborative climate and foster constructive, positive working relationships with stakeholders of the health center
  • The candidates should be able to embody the values and beliefs of the Health Center by adopting an approach to work that promotes health
  • The candidates should be able to prioritize their own health and safety by complying with the law and adhering to the health center’s policies and safe work methods
