Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of a college diploma or degree or other recognized technical qualifications specializing in ceramics, craft and design, or fine arts
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a ceramic studio and some experience as an assistant technician
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be available and willing to work evenings and weekends and be prepared to provide a satisfactory criminal and vulnerable sector screening check, dated within the last 30 days, if they are new hires or have not previously performed in this position
Other Requirements:

The candidates should hold a valid Emergency First Aid certification with CPR B, possess the HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) certification if instructing children’s programs for ages 4-12 years, demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to maintain ceramic studio equipment in good operating order, including performing weekly and monthly maintenance tasks, operate all equipment safely and handle all products in accordance with WHMIS standards
- The candidates should be able to mix and maintain studio glazes and slips and reclaim clay for various programs, operate, fire, and maintain four electric kilns to support all ceramic programs
- The candidates should be able to adhere to all Health and Safety procedures and standards relevant to the ceramic studio environment
- The candidates should be able to provide technical support to users and staff to ensure proper and safe use of all equipment
- The candidates should be able to develop and deliver comprehensive safety training to all users of the ceramic studio
- The candidates should be able to run the public Drop-in Ceramic Studio program for approximately 12 hours per week
- The candidates should be able to support instructors and students in the various clay programs by offering technical assistance and guidance
- The candidates should be able to maintain regular communication with the Culture Coordinator regarding any problems or recommendations that may affect the safe operation of the ceramic studio
- The candidates should be able to maintain accurate maintenance and safety logs for all ceramic studio equipment
- The candidates should be able to ensure that all warranty requirements are met and that operating procedures and maintenance activities align with those requirements
