Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Post secondary degree in social sciences
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • The candidates should provide a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search
  • The candidates should provide a current and satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check
  • The candidates should provide a current and satisfactory Adult Abuse Registry Check
  • The candidates should have and maintain a valid full stage Class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle with the ability to travel on government business within the Province of Manitoba
  • The candidates should be available to work evenings, weekends, statutory holidays and the after-hours standby rotation

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to work from a strength-based social work practice
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to identify signs of child abuse and neglect
  • The candidates should possess effective interpersonal skills to develop positive working relationships with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders
  • The candidates should have strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize complex tasks or assignments in a high-volume work environment with competing demands
  • The candidates should possess effective written communication skills to write clear and concise correspondence to a variety of audiences, including detailed reports
  • The candidates should have strong verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate or deliver difficult messages or information to clients
  • The candidates should be proficient with MS Office applications, particularly Word and Outlook
  • The candidates should have case management experience (including intakes, assessments, service coordination, counseling and monitoring) in a social service setting and knowledge of case management
  • The candidates should have the ability to conduct safety assessments
  • The candidates should have the ability to conduct child abuse investigations

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform a range of duties that include intake, conducting abuse investigations, developing case plans to ensure child safety, coordinating support services, and working with collateral community agencies
  • The candidates should be able to assist with after-hour services to children and families
  • The candidates should be able to play a key role in the management of protection, voluntary family service, and child in care cases
