Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have minimum Grade 12 education
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have completed an Early Childhood Education program (ECE)
  • The candidates should preferably possess a recognized Communicative Disorders Assistant Diploma.
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong proficiency in both spoken and written English
  • The candidates should be proficient in computer programs including Microsoft Word, Google Drive, Proloquo2go, SeeSaw, TalkTrac, and iPad operations
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to organize their workload effectively and collaborate with others
  • The candidates should have experience working with children experiencing communication difficulties
  • The candidates should have the ability to work with students with complex communication needs or challenging behaviors and be willing to participate in ongoing training
  • The candidates should express their interest in the position in writing if they are ETFO-ESP members within the job classification
  • The candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, and Reference Authorization Form, including two references (one of which must be from a current or recent supervisor), if they are ETFO-ESP members outside the job classification
  • The candidates should include a cover letter, resume, Non-Teaching Application Form, and Reference Authorization Form, including two references (one of which must be from a current or recent supervisor), if they are casual staff or external applicants

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to assist in the delivery of therapy-based goals determined by the Speech Language Pathologist
  • The candidates should be able to develop materials and activities tailored to target specific speech and language goals
  • The candidates should be able to interact with students, caregivers, and educators to provide strategies for practice at home or school, including posting activities on SeeSaw to support home/school collaboration
  • The candidates should be able to program and provide instruction on communication devices as part of therapy sessions
  • The candidates should be able to write reports each term to track client progress
  • The candidates should be able to maintain online written progress notes and other daily documentation in TalkTrac
  • The candidates should be able to participate in ongoing supervision provided by the Speech Language Pathologist and to conduct speech language screenings following specific protocols approved by the supervising Speech and Language Pathologist
  • The candidates should be able to implement a range of speech/language activities, instructing and guiding students to support them in achieving their identified goals under the supervision of the Speech Language Pathologist
  • The candidates should be able to, under the supervision of the Speech and Language Pathologist, facilitate and participate in yearly planned activities such as ongoing screening, report writing, and adjustment of interventions based on the changing needs of the students
  • The candidates should be able to work with clients with complex communication needs or challenging behaviors to maintain strict confidentiality of students and students’ records
