Evenings and weekends
Hours/Week: 37.5
Hours: 9:30 am – 5:30 pm

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or Digital Marketing
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience writing features and new stories for print and web (or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience)

  • The candidates should be a self-starting storyteller with journalistic-quality interviewing and writing skills
  • The candidates should possess the ability to multi-task and complete projects under tight timelines with little supervision
  • The candidates should demonstrate superior oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to increase the visibility of EDGE, execute communications strategies developed by the Manager, and enhance EDGE’s brand internally and externally, reporting to the Manager, Marketing and Communications
  • The candidates should be able to write communications, key messages, content for the website, blogs, social media channels, newsletters, and news releases, among other platforms
  • The candidates should be able to create content for EDGE announcements to be posted on various platforms at Sheridan College
  • The candidates should be able to regularly write articles, blogs, and stories that capture the entrepreneurial journey of EDGE members, including those in the community, coworking space, and students
  • The goal is to improve the organization’s public image and facilitate effective internal and external communication
  • The candidates should be able to implement communication plans aligned with EDGE’s goals and translate overarching communication objectives into actionable plans and initiatives
  • The candidates should be able to generate journalistic-quality feature/news writing, visual, and multimedia content for various platforms, ensuring consistency with EDGE’s messaging and brand voice
  • The candidates should be able to edit and proofread all communication materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to style guidelines while maintaining a keen eye for detail, grammar, and overall written and visual content quality
  • The candidates should be able to craft compelling narratives that effectively communicate key messages and enhance the EDGE’s storytelling efforts
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate work for EDGE’s digital communication channels, including the website, social media platforms, and email campaigns
  • The candidates should be able to manage documentation related to communication plans, strategies, and activities
  • The candidates should be able to generate regular reports and provide insights for optimization
  • The candidates should be able to provide communication materials such as existing signage, popup banners, takeaways, etc.
  • The candidates should be able to prepare presentations for openings/closings and promotions, as well as write event recaps/blogs
  • The candidates should be able to assist in onboarding student staff, demonstrating various software, etc.
  • The candidates should be able to assign tasks to student staff and review completed work, such as writing social media posts
  • The candidates should be able to perform other related duties as required
