Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates must be currently enrolled in related a post-secondary program (e.g., planning, business administration)
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

  • The candidates should have the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have knowledge of public transit operations and scheduling/call-out practices
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of and the ability to follow policies, procedures, collective agreements, and related legislation (e.g., privacy)
  • The candidates should demonstrate time management and attention to detail skills to organize time to accommodate multiple tasks, follow set call-out practices and procedures, and meet timelines to support work coverage requirements
  • The candidates should have communication skills to clearly exchange operational and scheduling information with other staff, including supervisors, fleet, and bus operators, and the ability to participate as an effective team member
  • The candidates should have computer skills using software such as Microsoft Office and transit information systems
  • The candidates should be able to use a radio system to communicate with bus operators
  • The candidates should have the ability to read and understand policies and procedures and to complete forms and maintain records
  • The candidates should support and demonstrate the Region’s values

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to work in the Transit Operations Centre to provide administrative and logistical assistance to support day-of work coverage requirements for transit operations
  • The candidates should be able to contact bus operators to fill shifts (e.g., sick, overtime) using an established call-out list and criteria
  • The candidates should be able to update spare board according to current schedules and adjustments and enter adjustments related to changes in transit systems
  • The candidates should be able to have contact with transit fleet supervisors to exchange information related to operational needs and arrange for services due to bus breakdowns, towing requirements, etc.
  • The candidates should be able to work in a standard office environment and use a computer to access and update bus operator information. Use a phone/radio to communicate/coordinate logistics with bus operators, supervisors, and fleet
  • The candidates should be able to perform related duties as assigned
