Salary: $52,000 annually for 40 hours per week
Employment Type: Permanent employment Full time
Location: Lower Sackville, NS
Shifts: Day, Flexible Hours, To be determined
Transportation information: Own vehicle, and Valid driver’s licence
Work setting: Work in employer’s/client’s home and Community agency
Supervision: No supervision responsibility
Target audience: Persons with an intellectual disability, Persons with mental health disabilities, Persons with physical disabilities

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Computer and technology knowledge: Electronic mail, MS Office
Credentials: Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses, Mandt System training, Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate, Medication Administration Certificate, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate, and Food Safety Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check, Driving record check (abstract)

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess personal and social adjustment skills, including handling issues related to substance abuse, gambling, behavior disorders, and understanding socio-economic needs and conditions such as housing, nutrition, unemployment, and financial assistance
  • The candidates should have the ability to work independently, effectively manage tasks without constant supervision, and demonstrate attention to detail in all aspects of their work
  • The candidates should be capable of working under pressure, meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and handling weights of up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs) as required for the job
  • The candidates should be physically capable of handling demanding tasks

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be accurate in their work and possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • The candidates should have efficient interpersonal skills and interpersonal awareness, focusing on client needs and exhibiting excellent written communication skills
  • The candidates should exercise good judgment, adhere to strong values and ethics, and be flexible, showing initiative and being team players
  • The candidates should be organized

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to prepare reports or case histories, appraise clients’ needs or eligibility for specific services, and perform administrative tasks
  • The candidates should be able to implement life skills workshops, assess clients’ relevant skill strengths and development needs, and develop, coordinate, and implement the delivery of specific services within the community
  • The candidates should be able to engage in housekeeping activities, food preparation, and provide suicide and crisis intervention
  • The candidates should be able to resolve conflict situations, implement behavior management programs, and liaise with other social services agencies and healthcare providers involved with clients
  • The candidates should be able to assist clients/guests with special needs and accompany clients to appointments and social outings
