Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Post-secondary education in a related discipline (Social Sciences, Community Development, and Sciences) or a combination of relevant experience
Experience: Candidates should have extensive experience participating, facilitating and/or delivering outreach-related initiatives

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience training to a diverse audience, including participating in outreach events in various settings and for diverse audiences
  • The candidates should possess extensive experience working or collaborating with various stakeholders, such as other levels of government, the non-profit sector, community organizations, neighborhood associations, business improvement areas, and/or businesses
  • The candidates should have experience analyzing, developing, monitoring, and administering programs and services for diverse audiences. Having experience in the management of volunteer-based programs
  • The candidates should be able to attend in-person events, activities, and site visits across the City and possession of a G License
  • The candidates should have the ability to implement equity, diversity, and inclusion frameworks to all work-related activities
  • The candidates should have knowledge of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and accommodations principles
  • The candidates should have the ability to implement project management principles and change management methodologies and possess the ability to deliver excellent customer service to a diverse group of customers/clients
  • The candidates should have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of staff, volunteers, families, agencies, partners, and members of the public
  • The candidates should have experience drafting briefing notes, reports, decks, minutes, etc., preferably in a government setting
  • The candidates should have broad knowledge of Toronto’s reduce, reuse, recycling, and other solid waste management policies and programs and have a high degree of initiative, leadership, and the ability to work well with minimal supervision
  • The candidates should be able to report to various work locations in a timely and efficient manner and should possess the ability to provide work direction to other employees/volunteers
  • The candidates should have advanced ability using Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as using video and conference call platforms (i.e., Webex, Zoom, Teams, etc.). Use of other online platforms, including social media, and other software

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to participate in the review and formulation of policies/procedures regarding program-specific requirements (3Rs Ambassador Program) and able to develop and maintain stakeholder and volunteer databases
  • The candidates should be able to plan, design, and deliver volunteer activities (supporting the promotion of the 3Rs Ambassador Program, conducting site visits, engaging multi-residential building staff, and supporting various volunteer engagements)
  • The candidates should be able to participate in the recruitment, screening, selection, training, and coaching of program volunteers (including eligibility screening, training, onboarding, and recognition)
  • The candidates should be able to implement and support various volunteer program standards, practices, and guidelines (organizing documentation regarding all aspects of stakeholder engagement and the volunteer program, developing and maintaining guidelines for administrative functions for the volunteer program)
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate administrative functions to support the volunteer program and stakeholder engagement (collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to plan, organize, and run events, attending and/or facilitating local outreach events organized by volunteers, community groups, industry associations, and business organizations)
  • The candidates should be able to liaise with volunteers, clients, vendors, project teams, project managers, senior management, and the public (providing direct support to volunteers, property managers/superintendents, and the general public, acting as a liaison between City staff, volunteers, and other stakeholders)
  • The candidates should be able to consult with divisional staff to develop program messaging and promotional material (supporting the development of program resources and public education resources in collaboration with other teams and divisions)
  • The candidates should be able to develop volunteer training curriculum and materials (developing and maintaining volunteer training content, training tools, outreach materials, and newsletters) and able to develop program website content information and able to organize Divisional volunteer recognition programs and events
  • The candidates should be able to provide input into the budget for the program (supporting the annual operational planning process, providing recommendations on outreach events, tools, and literature)
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate, lead, and evaluate current volunteer programs, prepare reports, and make recommendations (preparing annual reports with lessons learned, summarizing results and recommendations, and implementing approved recommendations)
  • The candidates should be able to attend and/or facilitate local outreach events, provide support to volunteers, and relay current policy/program information/updates and able to develop partnerships with related organizations and internal/external volunteer agencies and programs
  • The candidates should be able to ensure that service delivery meets clients’ expectations (identifying opportunities to enhance, grow, and sustain the 3Rs Ambassador program long-term, relaying up-to-date, accurate waste-related information to volunteers on a continual basis)
