Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have a High School diploma
Experience: Candidates should have experience in law enforcement, security, or the military
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have a related 2-year post-secondary diploma
- The candidates should have a related 1-year post-secondary diploma and 1 year of related experience
- The candidates should have 5 years of continuous employment in an unrelated field
- The candidates should have previous employment as a Correctional Officer
- The candidates should have knowledge or experience in a computerized/automated environment
- The candidates should have leadership experience, such as leading youth programs, groups, or committees
- The candidates should have 2 years of related experience. An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Typical equivalencies, a certificate/diploma from an accredited Correctional Officer program or a University degree in a related field of study
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to provide dynamic supervision of persons in custody, ensuring safe, secure custody, control, and supervision at all times
- The candidate should be able to participate in the case management of persons in custody, including approving and arranging professional and personal visits, professional phone calls, and escorting persons in custody within the facility
- The candidate should be able to respond to persons in custody complaints and requests promptly and effectively, providing assistance as needed and assisting with the completion of forms such as requests and complaints
- The candidate should be able to supervise persons in custody during work activities inside and outside the facility, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and procedures
- The candidate should be able to supervise facility cleaning by persons in custody and oversee persons in custody trustees on outside work detail, submitting maintenance work orders
- The candidate should be able to advise persons in custody of available programs and refer them to appropriate resources, adhering to the posted program schedule and supporting their participation in program work in the living units
- The candidate should be able to record and communicate information effectively through reports, forms, logbooks, email, and JEIN documentation, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records at all times
- The candidate should be able to participate in committees or meetings as requested by the Superintendent or designate, contributing insights and recommendations to improve facility operations and outcomes
- The candidate should be able to communicate in a timely, transparent, and effective manner with colleagues, persons in custody, and other stakeholders, fostering a positive and respectful work environment
- The candidate should be able to participate in workplace wellness initiatives by promoting teamwork, leadership, diversity, and a healthy workplace culture, contributing to a supportive and inclusive environment for all staff and persons in custody
