Salary: $43,180.07 to $50,695.09 annually (to be negotiated) 35 hours per week
Employment Type: Permanent employment Full time
Location: 520 Richards Street,Vancouver, BC V6B 3A2
Transportation information: Valid driver’s licence, Willing to travel regularly, Own vehicle
Work setting: Social service or charity agency, Community agency, Urban area

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as college, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years’
Credentials: Canadian Certified Addiction Counsellor Certification, Cultural Awareness Training
Target audience: Aboriginal groups
Security and safety: Driver’s validity licence check, Criminal record check, Confidential security clearance

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to do socio-economic needs or conditions (housing, nutrition, unemployment, financial assistance), services for the homeless and programs dealing with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)
  • The candidates should be able to work with attention to detail
  • The candidates should be able to handle weight Up to 9 kg (20 lbs)

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should be accurate, client focus, initiative, flexible, and judgmental
  • The candidates should have interpersonal awareness, values and ethics, excellent oral communication, excellent written communication, efficient interpersonal skills, and be able to work as a team player

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorized (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to obtain information and prepare reports or case histories, administrative and office activities, appraise clients’ needs or eligibility for specific services
  • The candidates should be able to implement life skills workshops, research techniques, conduct follow-up assessments
  • The candidates should be able to develop, co-ordinate and implement the delivery of specific services within the community, implement substance abuse treatment programs, conduct individual and group counselling sessions
  • The candidates should be able to liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients, maintain program statistics for purposes of evaluation and research
  • The candidates should be able to assist in evaluating the effectiveness of treatment programs, assist clients/guests with special needs
  • The candidates should be able to accompany clients to appointments and social outings, perform administrative tasks
  • The candidates should be able to refer offenders to community and social services programs
