Salary: $14.00 to $27.52 hourly (To be negotiated) for 65 to 160 hours per month

Shifts: Day, Evening, Early Morning, Morning
Transportation information: Own transportation
Work setting: Child care centre, Rural area, and Before and after school programs
Supervision: 5-10 people

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualification such as degree, certificate or diploma
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience, training will be provided
Area of specialization: Children with behavioural issues, Children with allergies, and Children with asthma
Credentials: Child development assistant (ECE level 1), Child development supervisor (ECE level 3), Child development worker (ECE level 2), Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, and CPR Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check, and Vulnerable sector check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be comfortable working outdoors and able to work effectively in noisy environments
  • The candidates should be non-smokers and comfortable working in an air-conditioned environment
  • The candidates should be capable of handling repetitive tasks and be physically fit to meet the demands of the job
  • The candidates should demonstrate attention to detail and be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking
  • The candidates should be able to perform tasks requiring bending, crouching, and kneeling, and possess manual dexterity for precise tasks

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers, and develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
  • The candidates should be able to engage in storytelling and assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
  • The candidates should be able to lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest, and assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records
  • The candidates should be able to encourage children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity, and engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts
  • The candidates should be able to guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits, and maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties
  • The candidates should be able to prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods, and observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors
  • The candidates should be able to submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors, and discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings
  • The candidates should have knowledge of the Day Nurseries Act and licensing regulations, and establish guidelines for behavior
  • The candidates should be able to assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members, and attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
  • The candidates should be able to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children, plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children, and plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
