Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a College/CEGEP
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Credentials: Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate and First Aid Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check and immunization records

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be non-smokers and comfortable with repetitive tasks, prepared for physically demanding work, and capable of bending, crouching, and kneeling as necessary
  • The candidates should demonstrate attention to detail and be able to perform a combination of sitting, standing, and walking

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers, as well as develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
  • The candidates should be able to engage in storytelling, supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers, and assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote children’s development
  • The candidates should be able to lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest, order supplies and equipment, and assist in keeping records
  • The candidates should be able to encourage children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity, engage children in activities, and guide and assist children in developing proper habits
  • The candidates should be able to maintain daycare equipment, assist in housekeeping and cooking duties, prepare snacks, and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
  • The candidates should be able to observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems, prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors, and submit written observations to early childhood educators or supervisors
  • The candidates should be able to discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings, have knowledge of licensing regulations, and establish guidelines for behavior
  • The candidates should be able to assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children, discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members, and attend staff meetings for discussions
  • The candidates should be able to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children, plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children, and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
  • The candidates should be able to supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
