Work setting: Day care centre or nursery school
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need should have completed college, CEGEP, or another non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 7 months
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be comfortable working outdoors
- The candidates should be able to adapt to both outdoor and air-conditioned environments
Candidate Status:
- Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
- Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
- If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers, engage in storytelling, and lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest
- The candidates should be able to order supplies and equipment, support early childhood educators in carrying out programs for the development of children, and assist in keeping records
- The candidates should be able to engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts, provide opportunities for creative expression, and guide children in the development of proper habits
- The candidates should be able to maintain daycare equipment, assist in housekeeping and cooking duties, observe children for signs of potential issues, and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors
- The candidates should be able to submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors, attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems, and plan and organize activities for school-age children before and after regular school hours
- The candidates should be able to supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
