Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have 2-5 years of field operations experience, working on Outside Plant (OSP) construction projects and with fiber optics

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to operate industry-specific equipment such as directional drills, Vac trucks, small excavators, skid steers, backhoes, and road cut saws
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to lead and direct the work of others, including the supervision of subcontractors
  • The candidates should possess strong organizational and planning skills, with proven experience organizing workloads, managing multiple priorities, and working with multiple deadlines
  • The candidates should be willing to travel to the site and/or other office locations as needed and be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
  • The candidates should have familiarity with protocol and practices of large telecommunications providers in the Ontario market
  • The candidates should have the ability to read and understand civil construction drawings and utility locates

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have 2-5 years of utility construction experience as a Superintendent or Foreperson overseeing multiple project locations simultaneously
  • The candidates should demonstrate hands-on experience working with fibre optic cable
  • The candidates should be aware that applicants residing in Ontario will be given preference due to the location of this project
  • The candidates should possess a solid understanding of current construction practices and field concepts, practices, and procedures, including OSP (Outside Plant) operations and a clean driver’s abstract
  • The candidates should have a working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental protection practices and procedures as they apply to common construction processes
  • The candidates should have strong knowledge of construction documents, including utility plans and maps, contracts, costs, and budgets
  • The candidates should have an aptitude for learning new technology and working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and Outlook
  • The candidates should have strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate leadership in health, safety, and environmental protections on the project and apply the requirements of the Project Specific Safety Program (PSSP) to promote overall compliance with Ledcor HS&E standards, applicable OH&S/OSHA Acts, regulations, and codes for all employees and subcontractors on the project
  • The candidates should be able to lead a team of 2-6 employees in the planning, execution, and billing of a project is a key responsibility. The candidates should train, support, and offer guidance to new hires and work closely with subcontractors, reviewing work, and managing invoices
  • The candidates should be able to ensure project schedules are met while maintaining company standards in regards to quality protocols is necessary. The candidates should ensure that all tailboards, MH entry permits, timesheets, driver’s logbooks, and billing are handed in on time and ensure compliance with municipality hours of work, traffic protection, environmental standards, traffic bylaws, and restoration standards
  • The candidates should be able to take action to monitor and control costs is part of the role. The candidates should manage escalations and provide exceptional customer service to clients related to quality, work performed, standards, etc. They should also oversee all client-specific requirements based on contract requirements and may perform other related duties as assigned
