Salary: $17.40 hourly for 80 to 90 hours bi-weekly
Employment Type: Seasonal employment Full time
Location: Delta, BC
Shifts: Day, Weekend, Overtime, Flexible Hours, Early Morning, and Morning
Transportation information: Travel expenses paid by employer
Work setting: Rural area, and staff accommodation provided
Type of crops: Greenhouse tomatoes
Type of product: Hydroponic horticultural products and Vegetables

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualification such as degree, certificate or diploma
Experience: Candidates should have experience 5 years or more
Equipment and machinery experience: Mechanical sprayer
Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots and Gloves
Credentials: Provincial licence/certification to apply chemical fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides and pesticides
Security and safety: Criminal record check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be prepared to work outdoors and be comfortable working at heights
  • The candidates should be able to work in wet or damp conditions and able to work in environments with various odors
  • The candidates should be able to work in hot conditions
  • The candidates should be able to work in cold or refrigerated environments and work site is non-smoking
  • The candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and job may involve repetitive tasks
  • The candidates should be capable of handling heavy loads and position may be physically demanding
  • The candidates should be able to stand for extended periods and Attention to detail is important for the candidates
  • The candidates should be comfortable with bending, crouching, and kneeling and job may involve a large workload
  • The candidates should possess hand-eye coordination and work Overtime
  • The candidates should be capable of handling loads weighing more than 45 kg (100 lbs)

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to clean crops, including clipping, deleafing, and greenhouse cleaning
  • The candidates should be able to assist in fruit tree training and hand harvesting vegetables
  • The candidates should be able to perform tasks such as lowering, mixing fertilizer, shoot positioning, suckering, tying, and vegetable culling
  • The candidates should be able to participate in activities like weeding, spraying or dusting plants with insecticides and fungicides
  • The candidates should be able to assist in pruning trees, shrubs, and plants, as well as mixing and preparing soils
  • The candidates should be able to transplant seedlings or rooted cuttings, apply fertilizers, and report signs of insect or disease damage
  • The candidates should be able to water and tend to plants, lawns, and/or gardens, and clean the work area
