Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have completed a Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and maintain active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory
  • The candidates should provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrollment from the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory and attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification
  • The candidates who are nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program will be considered if they have, Successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum, Are either in their first year of a practical nursing program or second year of a baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide personal assistance and support services to patients, including activities of daily living, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies
  • The candidates should be able to work as a collaborative member of the multi-disciplinary team to support patient care in home, community, or healthcare facility settings
  • The candidates should be able to assist nurses in providing routine care, ensuring patients’ hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs are met
  • The candidates should be able to engage with patients, families, and caregivers to provide compassionate care and support
  • The candidates should be able to assist with organized activities or programs aimed at enhancing patient well-being
  • The candidates should be able to observe and report on a patient’s mood, health, and overall well-being to the appropriate healthcare professionals
  • The candidates should be able to work under the supervision of a regulated health professional to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors
  • The candidates should be able to ensure effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to support coordinated care
