Physical Requirements:
- The candidate should have the ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances, including weather, traffic, and other factors and the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, doing what is necessary to exceed customer expectations and work effectively with different personality types and all levels of associates
- The candidate should have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently, be a self-starter, strong time management skills, report to the Regional Rental Manager, be willing to travel overnight less than 15% of the time
- The candidate should be able to handle physical demands such as lifting up to 50 lbs from the waist, lifting from the shoulder, prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, crawling underneath equipment, climbing on top of equipment, reaching, and stretching
- The candidate should be prepared to work in an environment that requires repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements, including skilled work with fingers, be comfortable with occasional work at heights and climbing onto equipment
- The candidate should be able to work outdoors in extreme hot and cold temperatures and around dirt, grease, fumes, oils, chemicals, and loud noises from engines, compressors, power tools, and equipment
- The candidate should be able to work at multiple sites, including various Home Depot stores, be at least 18 years old, reside within 25 km of the target city or be willing to commute to the base location, be available for regular scheduled shifts, including weekends, and may be asked to work outside of regularly scheduled shifts
- The candidate should be legally permitted to work in Canada and the ability to diagnose and complete advanced mechanical repairs, including engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems and the ability to read and understand technical repair and parts manuals for equipment, including mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and other components
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should have experience and the ability to provide excellent customer service and possess current trade certification in Heavy Duty Equipment (provincial or interprovincial) and pass a background check
- The candidate should have a working knowledge of handheld technology smartphone, laptop, tablet and applications and provide their own standard tools used in the trade and craft
- The candidate should have knowledge of and experience driving delivery trucks, towing tandem axle utility trailers and towable construction equipment, operating safely within high-traffic or congested city zones and in small areas
- The candidate should have a working understanding of safe load securement, tie-downs, and transport
- The candidate should have a working knowledge and understanding of Ministry of Transportation guidelines and safety regulations
- The candidate should have experience in the equipment rental industry, auto, truck mechanics, oil and gas mechanical work, light industrial equipment, or have mechanical and technical aptitude
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to maintain a fleet of rental equipment at store and company shop locations, and customer job sites, ensuring fleet inventory accuracy and GPS system operation with 3 points of security on all towable equipment
- The candidates should be able to complete major repairs for the LE fleet in assigned store locations, diagnose faults or malfunctions, and maintain, inspect, and repair all components of the machine, including gas and diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, fuel systems, and brake systems and troubleshoot, diagnose, and order parts within 48 hours of a tool being placed on the Down List, and notify the Regional Rental Manager (RRM) of any delays
- The candidates should be able to foster a culture of customer service and support, working with TRC associates to provide the solutions rental customers need to successfully complete their projects and obtain parts needed for repairs while maintaining timely and accurate parts inventory
- The candidates should be able to assist with equipment deployment, pre-delivery inspections (PDI), deliveries, and auctions and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, partnering with store TRC associates, teammates, and customers
- The candidates should be able to utilize equipment reporting to formulate efficient service strategies with Mobile Service Technicians (MSTs) to ensure timely completion of all open RSN tickets, repairs, store/lift inspections, PMs, and Safety Campaigns/Bulletins, and communicate prioritization to the RRM
- The candidates should be able to use the company technology platform to document all work performed on equipment, including labor and parts and lay out workflow processes prioritizing key action items to improve efficiency and communicate any LE rental status updates to store TRC associates and ensure work orders are completed in D365, including documentation for all parts and repairs
- The candidates should be able to maintain vehicle compliance in accordance with company, provincial regulations, and Ministry of Transportation guidelines, and maintain and certify accurate Electronic Logging Device (ELD – Samsara), Hours of Service (HOS) driver logs/vehicle inspections, and vehicle documentation
- The candidates should be able to maintain accurate fleet inventory and transfer equipment between locations and coordinate with the RRM to provide training and support to store TRCs on LE standards operating procedures (SOP) and best practices
- The candidates should be able to respond to customer service calls, coordinating with customers to facilitate repairs and arriving on-site within 24 hours and check in with the RRM at the beginning and end of each day
- The candidates should be able to comply with all safety protocols by following all Home Depot policies, including standards of performance, safe driving practices, proper lifting techniques, and using all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety and Hazmat procedures and maintain Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) certifications and store inspection compliance and perform other duties
