Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a Journeyman’s certificate as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic/Technician or a Journeyman’s certificate as an Automotive Mechanic/Technician, OR a registered and active 2nd or 3rd year apprentice in Heavy-Duty Mechanics
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be prepared for stay on-site, outdoor work location, working in all weather conditions (rain, direct sunlight, snow, etc.)
- The candidates should possess the ability to carefully monitor gauges, instruments, or processes, take action in solving problems while exhibiting judgment
- The candidates should be skilled in following instructions and have solid written and verbal communication skills, work effectively as a team member
- The candidates should be adaptable and able to perform a wide variety of tasks, changing focus quickly as demands change
- The candidates should know that emphasis on safety is critical for all employees, given that this is a high-risk environment with work around heavy moving equipment

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to perform preventative and corrective maintenance of all systems associated with Work Equipment (Mechanical, Electrical, and Hydraulic)
- The candidates should be able to make inspections, tests, welding repair or replace parts with limited resources in remote locations outdoors
- The candidates should be able to plan work, investigate and locate equipment problems, take corrective action, minimizing the impact on crew production and coordinate it with others
- The candidates should be able to prepare and submit equipment maintenance records, time sheets, etc
- The candidates should be able to obtain certification in CPKC safety rules
