Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of completed Grade 10
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 6 months of experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should maintain a fun and safe environment and be flexible, creative, organized, and reliable
- The candidates should have an understanding of the community fitness environment
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have hold a current Fitness Certification from a recognized fitness certification organization (or an equivalent deemed acceptable by management)
- The candidates should have equivalent apprenticeship and possess a Fitness Instructor certificate canfitpro, YM-YWCA, Ontario Fitness Council, or other recognized certification
- The candidates should have current Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED certificates and completed AODA Customer Service or IASR Training
- The candidates should be familiar with corporate and departmental policies, guidelines, and directives and know City of Ottawa emergency response procedures
- The candidates should have knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
- The candidates should have the knowledge base, skills, and training necessary to lead a variety of fitness classes
- The candidates should be able to speak clearly and actively listen and possess strong interpersonal skills and be open to change and innovation
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to instruct a wide variety of group fitness and fitness-related classes for identified programs at the City of Ottawa, in accordance with corporate and departmental policies and procedures, rules, and regulations
- The candidates should be able to contribute to the Recreation, Cultural, and Facility Services department’s mission of building a healthy, inclusive, and vibrant City
- The candidates should be able to support the department’s goal of ensuring that communities, residents, and visitors have access to recreation and cultural places, programs, events, and services
- The candidates should be able to oversee and improve service delivery integration for Buildings and Facilities Management to ensure the best possible client experience in City facilities
