Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of Grade 12 Education
Experience: Candidates should have five years’ journeyperson or building operations experience plus two years’ supervisory experience
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have the ability to perform duties in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a clean work site
- The candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing and the physical ability to perform the assigned duties
- The candidates should have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a Saskatchewan Journeyman Carpenter, Plumber, or Electrical Certificate OR Fourth Class Power Engineering Certificate and a Refrigeration Plant Operator Certificate
- The candidates should have the Saskatchewan Swimming Pool Operators Course and possess or be able to obtain a recognized Maintenance Management Professional Certificate within two years after the date of hire
- The candidates should possess or be able to obtain a BOMI – FMA or RPA designation and successfully completed or be able to complete the Occupational Health and Safety Practitioner course
- The candidates should possess or be able to obtain valid, recognized first aid and CPR certificates and possess a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- The candidates should have a current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record and considerable knowledge of practices related to the care and operation of equipment and materials used in facility maintenance
- The candidates should have knowledge of safety procedures associated with working with hazardous products, including knowledge of confined space procedures and WHMIS
- The candidates should have knowledge of and ability to work with CMMS systems, and identify and track key performance indicators
- The candidates should have advanced computer skills using word-processing, spreadsheet, and other data-processing software
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to coordinate, assign, and supervise the work of staff assigned to the maintenance program for facilities and support management regarding staff performance
- The candidates should be able to assign and track facility preventative maintenance and general maintenance requests using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), such as TMA
- The candidates should be able to assist the Facilities Superintendent with developing work plans and budgeting for the maintenance program and assist the Facilities Superintendent with defining and prioritizing maintenance work
- The candidates should be able to participate in weekly meetings with the Facilities Superintendent to discuss weekly job planning and prioritization and assist with the identification and development of standard operating practices
- The candidates should be able to support and promote a safe and positive workplace culture through a variety of initiatives and activities, ensuring a corporate approach to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
- The candidates should be able to support and promote the health and safety of employees in accordance with the Occupational Health, Safety Act, Regulations and the City of Saskatoon’s OHS policies and departmental procedures, review and approve all timesheet entries (TSE) for trade staff
- The candidates should be able to act as the Facilities Superintendent and perform work of assigned staff within the bounds of their training and experience and perform other related duties
