Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or Intermediate or a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have minimum 5 years of related work experience at a financial institution and/or regulated securities dealer/and or securities regulatory body

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of Capital Markets’ trading products and business lines, preferably in Equities and Listed Derivatives
  • The candidates should have knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements, such as IIROC, MX, and OSC requirements
  • The candidates should display the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and to organize and prioritize an unpredictable workload
  • The candidates should possess excellent analytical skills
  • The candidates should have completed the CSC, CPH, DFOL, and/or Trader Training Course
  • The candidates should be proficient in Audits Compliance, knowledgeable in Capital Markets and be experienced in Capital Markets Compliance
  • The candidates should be skilled in Compliance Testing, Fixed Income Trading, Decision Making and be adept at Problem Solving Critical Thinking (Inactive)
  • The candidates should be capable of Critical Thinking, knowledgeable in Financial Regulation and be adept at Data Gathering Analysis
  • The candidates should be experienced in Fixed Income Operations and be familiar with Fixed Income Products
  • The candidates should demonstrate Independent Thinking, Industry Knowledge and be excel in Interpersonal Relationship Management
  • The candidates should have familiarity with Product Services, Risk Management and be proficient in Strategic Thinking
  • The candidates should have an Understanding of Derivatives (Inactive) and have experience with User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to conduct daily and periodic reviews of sales and trading activities for Capital Markets in Canada, serving as the overall subject matter expert in both Equities and Listed Derivatives
  • The candidates should be able to actively participate in and contribute to team projects, including alert parameter changes and collaboration with Compliance IT
  • The candidates should be able to maintain detailed record-keeping and compile surveillance statistics for periodic reporting purposes
  • The candidates should be able to conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly trading reviews to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, and procedures
  • The candidates should be able to conduct reviews of electronic communications, including email, instant messaging, and new communication systems, utilizing email monitoring tools
  • The candidates should be able to identify potential areas of risk, including financial, reputational, and regulatory risks, counsel senior management on emerging issues, and make recommendations for courses of action
  • The candidates should be able to make recommendations to enhance the current surveillance program for the covered business lines, aimed at improving efficiency and effectiveness
  • The candidates should be able to develop and maintain updated surveillance procedures for all covered business lines
  • The candidates should be able to compile surveillance statistics for periodic reporting and conduct IT testing for enhancements to surveillance tools
  • The candidates should be able to undertake special projects as assigned
