Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience leading and supervising a team

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to create collaborative working environments that empower others to make sound decisions

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a degree in a related field and at least 8 years of progressively more senior and diverse relevant work experience
  • The candidates should be considered based on equivalent combinations of experience and education
  • The candidates should have exceptional communication skills with a focus on customer service

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to recruit, coach, and mentor a team of dedicated and passionate professionals while providing workforce planning, succession planning, development of performance objectives, and performance management and evaluation
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with the City of Calgary’s business community to create engagement and support further economic growth
  • The candidates should be able to build relationships and collaborate with other divisions within Development, Business, and Building Services
  • The candidates should be able to plan, budget, provide oversight of, and document all aspects of strategic projects and One Calgary for business planning and reporting
  • The candidates should be able to review and update the licence bylaws as required to ensure that Calgary remains a business-friendly municipality
  • The candidates should be able to improve the business licence customer experience by delivering on operational metrics and Council priorities
