Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a degree in planning
Experience: Candidates should have at least three years of related professional planning experience
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to schedule and complete numerous complex tasks within established time frames
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow staff, clients, and the public
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to direct and coordinate the work of others
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess Full Membership standing in the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and the Saskatchewan Professional Planners Institute (SPPI)
- The candidates should possess a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s Licence, provide a current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record
- The candidates should have considerable knowledge of the principles, standards, and practices related to urban planning and land development
- The candidates should have considerable knowledge of related municipal Bylaws, Provincial legislation, and regulations
- The candidates should demonstrate proficiency in using a computer and standard business software such as Microsoft Office Suite
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to prepare and respond to development proposals involving concept plans and detailed subdivision designs for industrial, commercial, and residential land
- The candidates should be able to evaluate and process development proposals, including Zoning Bylaw amendments, rezoning applications, subdivision applications, discretionary use applications, and new business applications
- The candidates should be able to communicate and negotiate with applicants, property owners, consultants, and the public regarding land use policy and development issues
- The candidates should be able to conduct special studies and projects related to land use policy, business development, and land development, including data collection and analysis
- The candidates should be able to provide professional and technical support to the Director, Section Manager, and Senior Planners, prepare and present reports and recommendations to committees
- The candidates should be able to maintain expertise related to current and anticipated trends in land use planning coordinate the work of, and train, other staff, perform other related duties
