Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a postgraduate degree in Planning, and should have an in-depth understanding of community planning principles, practices, techniques and methods, municipal planning trends, and public engagement
Experience: Candidates should have direct experience with land development applications and processes and are conversant with applicable regulations, policies, by-laws and legislation

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a valid BC class 5 driver’s licence

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have expertise working in a local government setting or a field directly related to urban land use and development
  • The candidates should be a critical thinker, organized project manager, and strong communicator with plenty of initiative
  • The candidates should be able to represent the Department, act as a resource, prepare relevant reports and recommendations, and explain complex technical concepts and plans to non-technical individuals

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to conduct research and analysis to support city planning initiatives
  • The candidates should be able to assist in the development and implementation of land-use plans and policies
  • The candidates should be able to review and evaluate development proposals for compliance with city regulations
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with stakeholders, including city officials, community groups, and developers
  • The candidates should be able to prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for city planning projects
