Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or a related field from a recognized post-secondary institution
Experience: Candidates should have previous work experience in the planning field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to apply an equivalent combination of education and experience, communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • The candidates should work well within a team environment and be able to build and maintain effective relationships with staff and members of the public

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a Master’s Degree in Planning, directly related experience with the development application process in a public sector organization,
  • The candidates should have knowledge of planning principles and the development application process
  • The candidates should be able to make decisions independently and exercise good judgment in performing their duties

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to process development applications, including variances, rezonings, and development permits, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies
  • The candidates should be able to assist Planners in more complex development projects, providing support in research, analysis, and documentation
  • The candidates should be able to provide information services, including by-law and policy interpretation and advice related to planning and development inquiries
  • The candidates should be able to communicate effectively with the public, applicants, agents, external agencies, and departments, preparing clear and concise reports and correspondence on development applications
  • The candidates should be able to act as a resource to Planning Operations Clerks, assisting in carrying out front counter duties and providing technical support in other planning tasks, including research, data collection, and tabulation
  • The candidates should be able to prepare comprehensive Council reports and correspondence regarding development applications, ensuring all necessary information is included and presented professionally
