Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed Baccalaureate in Nursing
Experience: Candidates should have Experience in the delivery of community health and treatment services in an expanded nursing role within a cross-cultural environment

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have B Screening, Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • The candidates should provide care both in and out of Health Centres, ability to lift up to 50lbs, extensive travel by road and air, and working after hours on call providing patient care

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess current registration with a Canadian registered nursing regulatory authority and have recent substantial experience working in emergency settings
  • The candidates should hold Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification and demonstrate experience in the delivery of community health and treatment services in an expanded nursing role within a cross-cultural environment
  • The candidates should have certification or education in the expanded nursing role, coupled with strong knowledge in treatment services in an emergency role
  • The candidates should showcase knowledge in Community Health Programs and exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, communication, organization, and flexibility
  • The candidates should possess the ability to lead, instruct, counsel and have a clear understanding of confidentiality
  • The candidates should possess Valid Driver’s License, Active Yukon RN registration in good standing, current Heart & Stoke BLS, ACLS, and an approved trauma certification such as TNCC, EPPIC-T or ITLS to be obtained within 6 months

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to committed to excellence in the provision of Primary Health Care to Yukon people
  • The candidates should be able to assist individuals and families to achieve and maintain optimal health through the provision of treatment services, health education/promotion activities, disease prevention, and individual counseling techniques
  • The candidates should be able to work in various communities throughout Yukon, providing relief coverage for the Primary Health Care Nurse role
  • The candidates should be able to report to the Primary Health Care Nurse-in-Charge, offering both community health and primary health care services through an expanded nursing role
  • The candidates should be able to provide primary health services, emergency services, assist with the planning, developing, implementation, and evaluation of public health/education programs, and perform other related duties contributing to the optimal functioning of the unit
  • The candidates should be able to provide primary health care services in settings where there is limited access to physician and support services such as lab, x-ray, and pharmacy
  • The candidates should be able to work effectively with both registered nurses and other health and social services practitioners in the provision of primary health care to the community

  • The candidates will get retention allowances, travel pre-diems, overtime and standby pay, additional $4.00 per hour in lieu of health benefits
