Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have educational qualifications such as Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
Experience: Candidates should have experience working in Mental Health and Addictions

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have completed an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to ensure the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients, and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information
  • The candidates should be able to perform a variety of administrative tasks including reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients, and health professionals
  • The candidates should be able to maintain patient records and charts, transcribe and process physician orders, as well as schedule patient tests and/or treatments
  • The candidates should be able to perform a range of administrative activities in support of the unit
  • The candidates should be able to perform admission, discharge, and transfer functions, answer telephone calls, use the patient call bell system, and monitor unit and patient access
  • The candidates should be able to play a key role in fostering an effective team environment on the unit as the key point of first contact for the inpatient and outpatient areas
  • The candidates should be able to facilitate communication between nursing and other health disciplines, departments, patients, and families, and maintain confidentiality of patient information
  • The candidates should be able to be an essential team member when unit emergencies arise and be responsible for paging physicians and code teams and able to be a major asset to the smooth and efficient operation of the unit
  • The candidates should be able to be responsible for managing the flow of information and providing clerical support to staff and physicians on these units. They are required to work collaboratively with physicians, staff, and management, other departments within RDRHC, the community of Red Deer, and rural sites within Central Zone
