Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the French and English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of a Secondary School diploma
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to work with people from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds
- The candidates should have effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in an interprofessional team
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have a Personal Care Worker Certificate or be in the process of pursuing a certificate, diploma, degree in a health-related discipline
- The candidates should be able to reflect on their own biases and demonstrate empathy for clients
- The candidates should have strong organizational, problem-solving, computer, and communication skills
- The candidates should have assets such as bilingualism (French and English) and proficiency in a second language, CPR certification, First Aid training, and familiarity with clinical care and issues specific to mental health and addiction settings
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to contribute to the organization and safe, optimal function of the unit under the direction of the clinical staff
- The candidates should be able to promote maintenance of the therapeutic milieu as a member of the interprofessional team
- The candidates should be able to participate in the supportive interaction and monitoring of individual and groups of clients and provide them with direct care and support
- The candidates should be able to accompany clients on- and off-site for transfers, appointments, and programming
- The candidates should be able to facilitate client participation in group and individual activities
- The candidates should be able to communicate both verbally and in writing about behavioural observations, assessments, and client responses to care interventions
- The candidates should be able to support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements
