The Algonquin College Department of Student Learning Centre is dedicated to providing comprehensive support services and resources to enhance student learning and success. The Student Learning Centre provides access to state-of-the-art facilities, technology, and knowledgeable staff who are committed to helping students reach their full potential. The department plays a vital role in promoting student retention, engagement, and academic achievement at Algonquin College. Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday ( 8:30AM – 4:30PM )

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have One (1) year certificate in Office Administration or related field
Experience: Candidates should have experience in a post-secondary environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have previous data entry/customer service skills
  • The candidates should have experience in using MS Word or Excel
  • The candidates should have the ability to maintain confidentiality of information
  • The candidates should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The candidates should demonstrate effective organization, time management, and planning skills

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to report to the Manager, Student Learning Centre & Libraries, as the Receptionist – Student Learning Centre, serving as the first point of contact for both Coaching and Peer Tutoring services within the Student Learning Centre
  • The candidates should be able to provide reception and scheduling support to the Student Learning Centre Coordinator and department
  • The candidates should be able to work to staff the Kiosk – Student Learning Centre and answer a variety of questions about the available services
  • The candidates should be able to greet learners at the kiosk in the Student Learning Centre
  • The candidates should be able to respond to email, chat, and in-person questions and inquiries
  • The candidates should be able to act as the first point of contact for the Student Learning Centre, guiding learners to the services the centre offers
  • The candidates should be able to assist with Peer Tutor scheduling, bookings, and questions about payment in the Peer Tutoring platform, Tutor Ocean
  • The candidates should be able to provide directional support to students in the 2nd floor DARE district
  • The candidates should be able to assist learners with DARE District meeting room bookings
