Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have graduated from a recognized, two-year, post-secondary program in recreation and leisure
Experience: Candidates should have one year of experience in the delivery of aquatic, fitness, and recreation programs
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to oversee the delivery of aquatic, fitness, and recreation programs and be available for shift work and weekend work
- The candidates should be able to express ideas and concepts effectively orally and in writing to staff and the public
- The candidates should be able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff, peers, supervisors, volunteers, and the public
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess valid recognized standard first aid and CPR certificates and complete in-house Aquatic Training within 6 months of hire
- The candidates should possess Red Cross Swim Kids 10 (Aqua Quest 12) or Red Cross Aqua Leader certification
- The candidates should possess Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association, or other recognized certification in fitness
- The candidates should have knowledge of the theory, philosophy, standards, trends, and practices of recreation program planning, particularly in a municipal setting
- The candidates should have knowledge of the methods of evaluation related to aquatic, fitness, and recreation programs
- The candidates should demonstrate leadership skills in program delivery and skills in the operation of a computer with word-processing and spreadsheet software
- The candidates should have an acceptable current Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) upon offer of employment
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to implement and monitor scheduled activities for the program site, ensuring adherence to the directives identified in the activity plan and annual schedule and monitor participant enrolment and make adjustments to the program schedule to accommodate demand, ensuring smooth operations
- The candidates should be able to monitor the quality of all activities delivered, whether by the Department or in collaboration with external agencies, ensuring customer satisfaction and compliance with technical standards
- The candidates should be able to assist with the leadership and development of program staff, including selection, training, scheduling, supervising, mentoring, coaching, and performance monitoring
- The candidates should be able to complete written performance assessments and provide developmental guidance to program staff, fostering their growth and effectiveness
- The candidates should be able to assist with scheduling activity space and identifying activities according to the program planning cycle, collaborating with the program design team
- The candidates should be able to assist with preparing the site for events, ensuring operational needs are met, such as set-up, staffing, and equipment maintenance and prepare and administer contracts for contracted program staff as directed, ensuring compliance and smooth execution
- The candidates should be able to coordinate, participate in, and evaluate orientation and in-service training programs for program staff to maintain high standards and purchase equipment and supplies for scheduled activities in line with the budget, and maintain an inventory
- The candidates should be able to ensure program spaces are ready for activities, including those delivered by external agencies renting the facility and interpret program and rental policies and procedures to the public and staff, ensuring clarity and compliance
- The candidates should be able to address customer inquiries, resolve conflicts, and provide solutions to ensure customer satisfaction and assist with activity evaluations by compiling statistics, providing rationale, and preparing recommendations to improve program operations
- The candidates should be able to prepare written documents such as program summary evaluations, memos, orientation outlines, and checklists and perform other related duties as assigned to support the smooth running of the program
