Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of current CPR or BCLS certification
Experience: Candidates should have previous clinical placement experience in mental health and addictions
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to enable them to develop the nurse-client relationship and work within a collaborative and diverse inter professional team
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be eligible to participate in the Nursing Graduate Guarantee Initiative, as per the requirements set by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care
- The candidates should be within 12 months of registering with the CNO and able to practice without restrictions, or able to obtain a temporary class license through the CNO and proof of registration to write the NCLEX
- The candidates should possess effective decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- The candidates should be able to work with clients of diverse cultural and social backgrounds
- The candidates should have computer literacy
- The candidates should have Bilingualism (French and English) and proficiency in a second language
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to work with inter professional care teams across inpatient units to provide direct client- and family-centered mental health and addictions care
- The candidates should be able to work with diverse client populations and liaise, as appropriate, with other services across CAMH and within the community to coordinate care
- The candidates should be able to engage in reflective practice and have the opportunity to contribute to program development
- The candidates should be able to make behavioral observations
- The candidates should be able to conduct mental status examinations, physical health assessments and risk assessments
- The candidates should be able to monitor clients’ responses to pharmaceutical and care interventions
- The candidates should be able to document in the electronic health record
- The candidates should be able to engage in ongoing communication with other team members
- The candidates should be able to develop knowledge and understanding of crisis intervention, addiction issues, group facilitation, recovery-oriented services, trauma-informed care, and severe and persistent mental illnesses
- The candidates should be able to support and contribute to a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, promotes dignity and respect, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable legislative and regulatory requirements
