Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of an accredited nursing education program
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of 1 year of Adult Mental Health experience within the last five years.

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate time management and prioritization skills in a rapidly changing environment and be self-directed and show initiative and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • The candidates should collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary team and have problem-solving, decision-making, critical thinking, and conflict resolution skills and prioritize patient advocacy using a person-centered approach and foster positive relationships within a team environment
  • The candidates should be active or eligible for registration and possess a practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) and hold a current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
  • The candidates should have the ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal, organizational, and assessment skills while working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team
  • The candidates should have a working knowledge of psychotropic medications and psychopathology and knowledge of mental health diagnosis, symptomology, and related treatment interventions
  • The candidates should have a working knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Alberta Mental Health Act and Health Information Act
  • The candidates should have a working knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Trauma-Informed Care
  • The candidates should have a working knowledge of the Collaborative Problem-Solving approach and have Active Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification or eligibility for active status

  • The candidates should be able to provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, ensuring their safety and well-being
  • The candidates should be able to utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making
