Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program
Experience: Candidates should have Geriatric experience
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have ability to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating workloads
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work as a member of a team and to request and accept direction
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA)
- The candidates should have Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
- The candidates should have demonstrated critical thinking skills within the scope of practice, including clinical judgment, problem-solving skills, and strong decision-making ability
- The candidates should have Dementia experience, supportive living and/or continuing care experience and Palliative experience
- The candidates should have strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is a commitment to integrating Patient and Family Centered Care principles into practice
- The candidates should have a commitment to promoting a positive work environment and to professional development
- The candidates should have Supportive pathways certification and non-violent crisis intervention certification
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care of patients/clients, working in consultation with Registered Nurses (RNs) and members of the interdisciplinary team to meet the needs of more complex patients/clients
- The candidates should be able to direct and provide resident care, supervise and schedule staff as necessary, and collaborate with families and residents
- The candidates should be able to ensure that the care needs of residents are met comprehensively and in a timely manner
- The candidates should be able to be responsible and accountable to the public for his/her practice, adhering to the Standards defined by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) Standards of Practice (2003)
