Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a PhD in Chemical Engineering, specialized in Energy Processes
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in heterogeneous catalysis for energy processes, synthetic organic chemistry for sustainable fuel production and thermo-chemical conversion chemistry

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have expertise in catalytic process development in dry reforming of methane (DRM) reactions, Fischer-Tropsch synthesis for liquid hydrocarbon production, CO2 conversion, biomass gasification, and gas-to-liquid technology (GTL)
  • The candidates should have experience in designing and working on high-pressure and high-temperature industrial fixed bed and fluidized bed flow reactors, slurry reactors, chemical vapor reactors, and microreactors, preferentially under gas phase and supercritical conditions
  • The candidates should have strong competencies in conducting safety analyses such as HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study) and PSA (Process Safety Analysis) to identify and mitigate risks, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards
  • The candidates should have knowledge of process automation systems (SCADA, HMI) and process simulation software (ASPEN, Promax), and advanced control strategies to enhance process efficiency and safety
  • The candidates should have demonstrated experience in intellectual property management with strong patenting experience for technology readiness level (TRL) escalation
  • The candidates should have a strong background in energy systems, chemical processes, and heterogeneous catalysis and strong knowledge of analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, and thermal conversion
  • The candidates should have an understanding of chemical kinetics and the experimental methods for extracting intrinsic kinetics and statistical data analysis techniques and experience working on and leading industrial projects and strong competencies in analytical equipment
  • The candidates should have experience mentoring and providing technical guidance to students, researchers, junior engineers, and team members and experience with preparing proposals and coordinating projects
  • The candidates should have experience with industrial programs and scale-up and experience with the safety aspects of working on high-pressure industrial flow reactors, preferentially under supercritical conditions

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to conceive hypotheses, design experimental plans, conduct experiments, and analyze and interpret data
  • The candidates should be able to review scientific literature and execute research projects, reporting on their progress through oral and written reports and scientific journal articles
  • The candidates should be able to present research at local, national, and international meetings and communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • The candidates should be able to maintain laboratory equipment, including gas chromatography, mass spectrometers, and flow and temperature control systems and interface with industry partners and vendors effectively
  • The candidates should be able to help support the setup of new laboratory equipment and coordinate research projects and meetings as appropriate and develop written protocols and train researchers on the latest material testing methods
  • The candidates should be able to assist the Principal Investigator (PI) in preparing manuscripts and proposals and perform additional duties to enable the safe and efficient operation of the lab
