Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have minimum grade 12 education or appropriate educational qualifications deemed acceptable by the Employer
Experience: Candidates should have experience in operating food service equipment such as ovens, stoves, dishwashers, and small motorized appliances, as well as utensils

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be willing to work in a school environment
  • The candidates should be prepared for exposure to strong odors associated with food and cleaning products
  • The candidates should acknowledge the potential risk of injury in the workplace
  • The candidates should be able to handle occasional exposure to stressful conditions
  • The candidates should be open to the possibility of limited work related travel

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a current Safe Food Handlers Certificate or be willing to obtain one as a condition of employment
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work in a busy environment with minimal supervision
  • The candidates should have a comprehension of and capability to apply rules of nutrition, safety, and sanitation
  • The candidates should exhibit excellent time management and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide lunches to students that follow the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services’ Student Nutrition guidelines, applicable health and food service regulations, and any other relevant standards and regulations, taking into consideration any allergies or food sensitivities within the school
  • The candidates should be able to plan menus, determine the cost of menu items, order food, prepare, serve, and store food in a safe, hygienic, and efficient manner
  • The candidates should be able to operate, clean, and disinfect all kitchen equipment, utensils, instruments, and food surfaces, always practicing proper sanitation techniques and maintaining personal cleanliness
  • The candidates should be able to notify the school Principal when food service items need to be ordered (bowls, thermal wrapping, and food trays)
