Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of an undergraduate degree from a recognized university
Experience: Candidates should have two years’ experience in a customer service environment

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to participate in the planning and presentation, including public speaking and instruction, of library programs and projects
  • The candidates should have the ability to plan, organize, and carry out assigned duties and responsibilities with supervision

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have completed an approved Library Technician diploma program and have 2 years of experience in a customer service environment with considerable experience demonstrated in an area such as programming, information services, collection maintenance, and community collaboration
  • The candidates should have considerable knowledge of library methods, procedures, and tools applicable to the work
  • The candidates should have a working knowledge of the objectives, organization, procedures, services, and resources of the Library
  • The candidates should have the ability to pleasantly and effectively deliver adult programs and services
  • The candidates should possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • The candidates should have the ability to participate in the maintenance of the library collection
  • The candidates should possess pleasant and effective customer service skills

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to work collaboratively within their team and system-wide to create a welcoming, patron-centered experience through active involvement in the design, planning, and delivery of responsive library programs and events
  • The candidates should be able to assist in planning programs for adults under the guidance of a librarian and deliver them, providing instruction and support to the public on the use of digital devices, services, and accessing library resources
  • The candidates should be able to understand and practice community-led approaches and represent the Library’s vision, mission, and values by demonstrating and modeling conduct that reflects the library’s policies and procedures
  • The candidates should be able to be responsive and flexible, fostering social inclusion, and ensuring that patrons’ information, entertainment, and leisure needs are met at the point of need and in non-traditional ways
  • The candidates should be able to be a stronger presence in the community, creating and collaborating with community partners to produce programs, events, and workshops that align with the library’s strategic plan
  • The candidates should be able to work collaboratively within the PLG team to create programs, events, and workshops that represent the diverse communities in a respectful, inclusive, and accessible way
