North Bay & District Multicultural Centre based in North Bay, ON is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Settlement worker – community services. North Bay & District Multicultural Centre is a non-profit organization serving the settlement needs of newcomers to Canada in the districts of Parry Sound, Nipissing, Temiskaming, and Cochrane. The northern region is covered by our satellite office, the Timmins & District Multicultural Centre. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Job Description:

Position: Settlement worker – community services
No of Vacancies: 1
Salary: $25.75 hourly for 35 hours per week
Employment Type: Term or contract Full time
Location: 100 Main Street East, North Bay, ON P1B 1A8
Shifts: Flexible Hours, 08:30 to 16:30
Target audience: Children, Culturally diverse groups, Families

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as Bachelor’s degree
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Security and safety: Criminal record check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work in settlement services for new immigrants

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should be client focus, initiative, flexible, and judgmental
  • The candidates should have excellent oral communication, excellent written communication, efficient interpersonal skills, and be able to work as a team player

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to do administrative and office activities
  • The candidates should be able to liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients
  • The candidates should be able to maintain program statistics for purposes of evaluation and research
