Work setting: Business and/or industry, urban area, community service organization, various locations, work in employer’s/client’s home, social and family service agency, health care institution, facility or clinic, mental health institution, facility or clinic, rehabilitation centre and special health institution, child welfare organization, hospital
Target audience: Adolescents, adults, developmentally delayed, elderly, females, males, minority group, people with personal or social adjustment difficulty, persons with an intellectual disability, persons with physical disabilities, psychiatric, social assistance recipient, abused adults, family, people who require psychiatric care
Supervision: Working groups, committees, staff in various areas of responsibility

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Bachelor’s degree
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 5 years or more
Social work specialization: Child welfare, community development, health, personal adjustment, socio-economic needs or conditions
Credentials: Canadian Certified Addiction Counsellor Certification, Mental health first aid Certificate, Provincial certificate of registration, Membership in a provincial association of social workers, and Membership with the Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW)
Security and safety: Bondable, criminal record check, child welfare check, adult abuse registry check, vulnerable sector check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, capable of working effectively under pressure, and adept at meeting tight deadlines
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong attention to detail, be able to handle a large workload, and manage a large caseload while being comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout their workday

  • The candidates should prioritize client needs and satisfaction, demonstrating dependability in fulfilling their responsibilities
  • The candidates should possess efficient interpersonal skills and exhibit excellent oral communication abilities
  • The candidates should demonstrate excellent written communication skills and exhibit flexibility in their approach to tasks and schedules
  • The candidates should have interpersonal awareness to navigate various social situations effectively and exercise good judgment in decision-making
  • The candidates should be organized in their work habits, reliable in meeting commitments and deadlines, and adhere to high values and ethics in their work
  • The candidates should be team players, capable of collaborating effectively with others

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to interview clients to assess their situation, determine the types of services required, and assess eligibility, as well as supervise other social workers, paid para-professional staff, student trainees, and volunteers
  • The candidates should be able to perform administrative tasks and plan programs of assistance for clients, including referring clients to agencies that provide financial assistance, legal aid, housing, medical treatment, and other services
  • The candidates should be able to investigate cases of child abuse or neglect, take authorized protective action when necessary, and serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team working with a client group, while also acting as an advocate for client groups in the community
