Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Certificate or diploma in health information management, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Experience: Candidates should have demonstrated experience entering high volumes of data into several databases with accuracy

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates must provide and maintain a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
  • The candidates should demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize competing workload demands to meet deadlines

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have effective verbal communication skills to interact with colleagues, multiple levels of healthcare professionals, and the general public
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong written communication skills
  • The candidates should have experience with highly sensitive and confidential information
  • The candidates should possess effective analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The candidates should be proficient in working with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and other computerized database applications
  • The candidates should have experience using an Electronic Medical Health Record (EMR)
  • The candidates should have knowledge or application of PHIA, FIPPA, or other relevant privacy legislation

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to work in a complex and time-sensitive environment as a Surveillance Clerk, providing multi-faceted health information management services to support front-line Public Health service delivery across the province
  • The candidates should be able to work within a team environment and complete tasks such as entering complex clinical data relating to diseases reportable under The Public Health Act
  • The candidates should be able to ensure accuracy and completeness of personal health information recorded
  • The candidates should be able to communicate with healthcare practitioners throughout the province and across Canada
