Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have post-secondary degree or certificate in accounting or tax
Experience: Candidates should have 2 to 3 years of tax return preparation experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should handle various documents, forms, and financial records. Tax Preparers may need to reach, bend, and handle paperwork or files within an office setting
  • The candidates should Interact with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders and attend meetings, answer client inquiries, and collaborate with team members

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience in an accounting, customer service, and/or client service environment
  • The candidates should possess a working knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act
  • The candidates should have experience working with accounting and tax software

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to prepare, complete and accurate tax returns and compute taxes owed and prepare personal and corporate tax returns (and other tax compliance slips)
  • The candidates should be able to prepare year-end tax forms (T4s and T5s) and identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies, and discuss with managers or engagement partners to resolve
  • The candidates should be able to respond to client questions and queries, set up files for new and existing clients and manage multiple files simultaneously
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes and work collaboratively with the client engagement team
  • The candidates should be able to have the ability to work flexible hours and able to maintain flexibility to travel
