Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of a University degree such as BSc, ART, or SBB
Experience: Candidates should have two to five years of transfusion laboratory experience
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have effective time management and organizational skills and ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- The candidates should have strong attention to detail and analytical ability to evaluate and ensure accuracy of data related to laboratory results and donor or patient information
- The candidates should be able to function effectively under pressure in a fast-paced work environment
- The candidates should have demonstrated analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be a certified general Medical Laboratory Technologist with Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and be registered with the professional college, College of Medical Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)
- The candidates should have post-secondary education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution
- The candidates should have including six months of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education or experience
- The candidates should have two to five years of experience in red cell antibody investigation and previous hospital laboratory experience in Transfusion Medicine
- The candidates should have previous GMP experience and demonstrate an understanding and working knowledge of Transfusion Medicine principles, procedures, instrumentation, and how they interrelate
- The candidates should have demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, communication, and staff development skills
- The candidates should have strong oral and written communication skills in English, including the ability to convey understanding of factual and theoretical information and make recommendations to customers
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to perform and ensure appropriate performance of related quality control or quality assurance activities
- The candidates should be able to perform, verify, and document routine maintenance and verification procedures of laboratory equipment in accordance with approved work instructions and regulatory requirements
- The candidates should be able to provide technical guidance to the Medical Laboratory Technologists in the resolution of patient and donor investigations
- The candidates should be able to provide training, perform competency assessments, and ensure adherence to work instructions for testing processes and procedures
- The candidates should be able to maintain technical competency, promote continuous learning, and facilitate and participate in ongoing related quality improvement activities or special projects
