City of Winnipeg’s Assets and Project Management department oversees the management and maintenance of municipal assets and infrastructure projects. It ensures the effective utilization and maintenance of city-owned properties, facilities, and infrastructure. Through strategic planning and project management, the department optimizes asset performance and delivery of infrastructure projects. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have diploma in Architectural/Engineering, Structural, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology
Experience: Candidates should have Minimum of five (5) years’ experience using AutoCAD to produce construction drawings and specifications for tender and Building Permits, based on Architect’s/Engineer’s/Designer’s sketches and notes

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should provide a vehicle for transportation to City-owned assets while on City business, subject to the terms and conditions of the City Transportation Policy

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be registered as a Certified Technologist with CTTAM or ABTAM, or must be registered within 12 months of employment
  • The candidates should have experience preparing, reading, and interpreting construction drawings and contract specifications
  • The candidates must have experience and working knowledge of the principles and practices of building design, as well as, the materials and equipment involved in North American commercial construction
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and clients and have the ability to assist Architects, Engineers, and Designers in developing design options
  • The candidates should possess problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions and recommendations and have verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • The candidates should possess written communication skills with the ability to produce documents clearly and concisely and have organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet tight timelines
  • The candidates should have proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams and demonstrate proficiency in AutoCAD Architecture
  • The candidates should obtain a Winnipeg Police Service Level 2 Security Clearance satisfactory to the employer upon request and undergo a Child Abuse Registry Check satisfactory to the employer, at their expense
  • The candidates should possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License. The successful applicant will be required to provide a driver’s notice in force document upon request
  • The candidates should maintain membership in the Certified Technician & Technologists Association of Manitoba (C.T.T.A.M.) as a Certified Engineering Technologist, or the Architectural and Building Technologists Association of Manitoba (A.B.T.A.M.) as a Certified Technologist or must be registered within 12 months of employment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to complete design and drafting assignments, including preparing estimates, specifications, reports, and conducting field investigations for designated assignments and project-related work
  • The candidates should be able to prepare complete Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, and/or Electrical drawings for the purpose of tendering and obtaining Building Permits for various construction projects, including renovations, repairs, new additions, or new City of Winnipeg owned buildings
  • The candidates should be able to perform construction progress inspections on design projects to ensure compliance with specifications and standards
  • The candidates should be able to create accurate building base plans in AutoCAD, utilizing existing hardcopy drawings or field measurements, to facilitate the management of City of Winnipeg facilities
  • The candidates should be able to produce charts, graphs, maps, and other illustrations for Department reports or external departments as needed
  • The candidates should be able to perform any other tasks related to the completion and/or support of project designs, demonstrating versatility and adaptability in their role
