City of Toronto’s Solid Waste Management Services division handles waste collection, recycling, and disposal within the city. It manages curbside pickup, recycling programs, and waste diversion initiatives to promote sustainability. Through efficient waste management practices and public education, it works towards Toronto’s goal of reducing landfill waste and maximizing resource recovery. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline (Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Policy and Administration) and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in Human Resources functions

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a focus on Workforce Planning and proficiency in project management of HR initiatives, encompassing planning, implementation, and monitoring to achieve organizational objectives
  • The candidates should possess considerable experience in gathering, researching, and analyzing HR data from various systems and sources, both internally and externally, with a particular focus on supporting workforce planning initiatives
  • The candidates should have experience using a variety of software products including MS Office Suite, SAP, and Success Factors
  • The candidates should demonstrate knowledge of employment-related and equity legislation (Employment Standards Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and Ontario Human Rights Code), and familiarity with emerging equity, diversity, and human rights trends
  • The candidates should exhibit excellent human relations and conflict management skills with the ability to handle matters of a confidential/sensitive nature as it relates to management and unionized employees
  • The candidates should possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strong organizational skills and have the ability to work in a highly demanding work environment with many competing priorities and deadlines
  • The candidates should be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing at all levels of the organization and demonstrate the ability to work effectively as a resource to management and staff in a diverse, multi-site division
  • The candidates should have the ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with senior administrators, managers, and employees
  • The candidates should be capable of exercising discretion, judgment, and working independently and as a team lead or team member

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to assist in the development and implementation of detailed plans and strategies for workforce planning initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and future business needs
  • The candidates should be able to offer logistical and administrative support for HR projects and initiatives, including coordinating meetings, managing documentation, and facilitating communication between stakeholders
  • The candidates should be able to collect, compile, and analyze HR data from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement in workforce planning and HR initiatives
  • The candidates should be able to conduct benchmarking exercises to compare HR practices, policies, and performance metrics against industry standards and best practices, informing decision-making and continuous improvement efforts
  • The candidates should be able to generate reports, presentations, and other materials to communicate findings, recommendations, and progress updates for workforce planning initiatives and HR projects
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with external organizations, institutions, and government agencies to gather research, collect data, and support the implementation of workforce planning initiatives and HR projects
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to the design and development of communication strategies to promote awareness, understanding, and engagement with workforce planning initiatives and HR projects across the organization
  • The candidates should be able to retrieve information from various electronic systems and respond to employee inquiries regarding HR matters related to workforce planning initiatives and projects
  • The candidates should be able to assist in the preparation, revision, and maintenance of training documents and programs related to workforce planning and HR initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives
  • The candidates should be able to undertake additional HR-related duties as assigned, contributing to the overall effectiveness and success of workforce planning and HR initiatives
