Requirements:

• The candidates should have validated planning experience and the initiative to work towards results with limited supervision
• The candidates should possess analytical or statistical and risk evaluation skills and receive training for Certified Freight Car Inspector
• The candidates should have facilitation skills at an intergroup level, which may involve group on group observation and feedback
• The candidates should be able to pass a criminal history check and provide a reference check

Responsibilities:

• The candidates should be able to lead car repair and modification programs, from securing funding to executing the programs at CPKC facilities or contract shops
• The candidates should be able to monitor car fleet performance, emphasizing quality and cost control for optimal operations and maintain relationships with vendors, ensuring contracts are in place and holding them accountable for completing scheduled programs
• The candidates should be able to develop Standard Operating Procedures, Maintenance Instructions, and Modifications specific to various car fleets
• The candidates should be able to participate in AAR committee work and task forces to advance industry initiatives for specific car fleets
• The candidates should be able to collaborate with regulatory affairs to ensure compliance with policies for both Canadian and US operations
• The candidates should be able to manage the retirement of cars, ensuring accurate billing and safe movement to designated destinations and evaluate the condition of leased freight cars, ensuring contracts and conditions align with mechanical requirements
• The candidates should be able to provide mechanical expertise to support freight car lease decisions, including signing off on maintenance provisions and lease turn-back requirements
• The candidates should be able to work with Material Sourcing to enhance vendor material quality, secure better pricing, and maximize warranty claims for defective components
• The candidates should be able to conduct trend analysis related to fleet costs, projected life expectancy, and component failure rates
• The candidates should be able to assist with railcar billing, disposition, and allocation of workloads for internal CPKC shops
