Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have two years of post-secondary education, preferably in accounting or medical office training
Experience: Candidates should have five years of directly related experience, of which one year is in a medical office, with progressive responsibility
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and possess a working knowledge of medical billing procedures
- The candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills, both verbal and written and have attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency as critical attributes
- The candidates should be able to use tact and diplomacy while working with a diverse client group and should hold a high regard for strict medical confidentiality
- The candidates should be capable of researching rejected medical claims and contested medical office fees
- The candidates should have excellent working knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, and Excel and have experience with electronic medical record systems
- The candidates should possess excellent organization skills to work independently and prioritize work flow to meet sensitive and demanding timelines
- The candidates should have the ability to recommend procedure changes in the area of immediate responsibility
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to coordinate the medical office billing and accounts receivable systems under the supervision of the Medical Office Administrator
- The candidates should be able to ensure accuracy and timeliness in all billing and accounts receivable processes
- The candidates should be able to ensure compliance with university financial policies, as well as policies and billing practices mandated by the Ontario Ministry of Health and the Ontario Medical Association
- The candidates should be able to recommend policy and procedure changes related to billing and accounts coordination
- The candidates should be able to provide administrative support to the Health Services team as needed
- The candidates should be able to perform other duties as required by the Medical Office Administrator
