Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should possess a High School Diploma or a University degree
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years of railway maintenance experience or strong heavy industry maintenance-based knowledge
Background Investigation: The successful candidate will need to successfully complete the following clearances: Criminal history check and Reference check
Medical Requirements: CPKC prioritizes safety for people, customers, and assets. New hires, including Trainee Program participants, undergo comprehensive medical and drug assessments, ensuring a secure workplace

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have proven capabilities in driving and implementing cultural change
  • The candidates should have the ability to provide pinpointed positive and constructive feedback and apply balanced consequences
  • The candidates should have strong problem-solving and resolution skills and be capable of evaluating risks
  • The candidates should have strong written and verbal communication skills and should also have locomotive equipment or similar heavy-duty machinery knowledge
  • The candidates should have experience in a unionized environment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to ensure the safe and effective operation of the Alyth locomotive facility
  • The candidates should be able to lead and manage activities to ensure that various performance targets for cycle-time and servicing availability are met
  • The candidates should be able to ensure that all servicing, repairs, and planned program works across all locomotive fleets are in compliance with CPKC’s standards, AAR standards, and Transport Canada/Federal Railroad Administration regulations, ensuring a safe and reliable product is sustainably and reliably delivered for the Operations
  • The candidates should be able to ensure that the GE and EMD Tech support group is working cooperatively and effectively with Locomotive Maintenance facility management and staff to provide on-time, quality shop releases
  • The candidates should be able to be accountable for meeting the annual Locomotive Maintenance expense budget
  • The candidates should be able to ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Security, and Environment policy and standards
  • The candidates should be able to ensure that all safety/rules failures are investigated, complete with recommendations for discipline and/or corrective action plans
  • The candidates should be able to be accountable for performance objective setting and outputs for direct reports
  • The candidates should be able to be accountable for the career development and succession planning for employees
  • The candidates should be able to implement process improvement recommendations to improve productivity and effectiveness
  • The candidates should be able to ensure that supervisors conduct all activities consistent with the collective agreement
  • The candidates should be able to provide direct tactical support to the day-to-day operations through local locomotive dispatch planning functions
